Prestwick has a long proud history as the first Royal Burgh in Scotland. Established in 983AD on the South Ayrshire coast, Prestwick today is a thriving town with major areas including Shawfarm, Marchburn, Glenburn, Powmill, Kingcase, Kings Meadow and St Cuthbert's. Landmarks include the mile-long seafront esplanade, Bruce's Well where Robert the Bruce sought miracle treatment, and the Salt Pans. The town is served by a railway to Glasgow and Ayr and Prestwick International Airport to the north. Prestwick also has a strong golfing heritage, having hosted the first Open Golf Championship on the Old Course in 1860. s1prestwick.com been developed to allow residents to share their news, views and opinions, publicise events and display photos and videos.
