Online petition launched to save Prestwick's Gannet rescue base

  • A petition has been launched on the Number 10 Downing Street site to save HMS Gannet

An online petition has been launched on the Number 10 Downing Street website, aiming to save Prestwick's HMS Gannet rescue base, which has been earmarked for a move to Glasgow.

You can find the petition, which has already attracted 100 names, here.

It was announced in February that the search and rescue base would move to a new site at Glasgow Airport from 2012 when a new consortium takes over the service. You can read the story here.
