Prestwick Academy pupils get their reward on Duke's scheme
5 Mar 2010Eight pupils from Prestwick received their Bronze awards at the presentation: Paul Furey, Hazel Jamieson, Jordan Jenkins, John King, Tasmin MacLeod, Callan Scade, Alison Tait and Kieran Wardrop.
They were presented with their awards by Alex Cumming Assistant Director of the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards scheme in Scotland. This year 240 young people from across South Ayrshire achieved either a bronze, silver or gold award, up 34 per cent on last year. ÂÂ
The Academy pupils receiving their awards spoke enthusiastically about their experiences on the scheme:
Kieran Wardrope, (16): "It built up my self confidence and self esteem."
Jordan Jenkins, (15): "Once you start DofE it becomes a way of life."
Tasmin MacLeod, (15): "It built up my knowledge of geographical and historical features in the local countryside."
Alison Tait, (16): "It made me more responsible and able to handle pressure a lot better."
Hazel Jamieson, (16): "The experience helped me keep fit and also helped me to work as a team."

Congratulations to these hard working pupils who bring honour on themseles and their school. Unlike some of their fellow pupils who throw rubbish into gardens and cause general nuisance on their way to and home from the same school. Sadly it seems such as these have no pride in themselves and only wish to demonstrate their stupidity to their fellows while bringing down the reputation of their school.
