PRESTWICK CHARITY SHOP TO HOST CHRISTMAS SHOPPING LAUNCH

by Sarah Wedlake

Christmas shoppers are invited to come along to Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd’s (SATCoL) Prestwick store on Thursday 17 November when the shop will mark the start of Christmas with the launch of its festive fashion and gift ranges.

After the shop closes on Wednesday 16 November the Main Street store will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland ahead of its Christmas launch opening at 9am on Thursday 17 November. Staff and volunteers at the shop have been saving the best Christmas party wear, decorations and gifts from donations received throughout the year, and all of the stock will be on sale for the first time that morning.

“We’re really looking forward to launching our Christmas stock,” explains area manager for Salvation Army Trading Company Nicola Crawford. “We’re going to have some fabulous items on sale at very reasonable prices – perfect for people hoping to bag a bargain this Christmas.

“Those who might be looking for an alternative to high street prices can come along and get their entire Christmas shop done including presents for their loved ones, an outfit for the Christmas party and some fillers for that all important Christmas stocking.”

Customers at the Christmas event will also be offered one of the store’s innovative new ‘re:ward’ loyalty cards, which launched last month and have so far proved a great success. The free double-sided card rewards customers each time they spend £5 in the shop or donate their unwanted items using one of the shop’s reuseable ‘re:bags’. Each time a customer spends £5 in-store, one side of their re:ward card will be stamped, with 10 stamps entitling customers to a £5 credit to spend in-store. On the other side of the card is the reward scheme for donations to the store, which works in conjunction with a re:bag – a reusable black, white and red bag that can be bought in-store for 99p. Each time a re:bag is brought into the store full of donations, a stamp to the value of £2 will be given.

Profits from the SATCoL shop are gifted-aided to The Salvation Army to help fund its work throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK. Homelessness services, family tracing, professional addictions services and elderly care are just some of the valuable services provided by the charity.
