Prestwick 'institution' goes on sale as family hotel owners retire
4 AugustUPDATE: Since this article was posted, the hotel has been taken off the open market, and is continuing to trade under the management of the Clarkson family.
Prestwick's Parkstone Hotel, after more than 75 years owned and run by the same family, is up for sale with owner Stewart Clarkson deciding to retire.
The seafront hotel, which was originally opened by Stewart's grandparents, celebrated its 75th anniversary in March 2008, and has been owned and managed by the family for its entire life. The property is on sale for £1,300,000.
Over the years the hotel has been extensively refurbished, extended and developed into its current form.
The original Parkstone Hotel, which was acquired in 1933, is on three levels with the most recent major addition being a bedroom wing built in 1997.
Many of the property's features are retained within the original part of the hotel, and the Parkstone now has a three-star rating from both the AA and VisitScotland.
The Parkstone currently has 29 en-suite letting bedrooms, with the possibility to addno owner's accommodation however, should it be required there could be potential to develop accommodation within the hotel, subject to the relevant planning permissions.
The business
The Parkstone Hotel has become an institution in Prestwick - and the family have decided to sell the hotel due to looking at finally retiring from the trade after many years under their reign.
The hotel has latterly being run very much to suit the owners' requirements with a full complement of staff.
