Provost opens up Prestwick's new Sainsbury's store

  • Provost Winifred Sloan carried out the official opening ceremony at Prestwick's new Sainsbury's

The opening of Sainsbury's new store in Prestwick saw South Ayrshire Provost Winifred Sloan cutting a ceremonial ribbon and declaring the store officially open.

Speaking at the opening Provost Sloan said: "Sainsbury's has created many new jobs which will help our local economy to thrive and provide people with valuable experience of working in the retail trade.

"Even before the new store opened Sainsbury's has been working with local schools and charities and putting something back into the community.

"I enjoyed opening the new store and I am sure that it will go from strength to strength in the future and am personally delighted the store has at long last come to South Ayrshire - we have waited a long while for Sainsbury's."

Staff gathered to watch Provost Sloan officially open the store and afterwards welcomed the Provost and customers inside.
